Petro Matting is a felt-like material that is installed with a tar adhesive to allow material to adhere to existing pavement. This is done to prevent existing cracks from mirroring through new asphalt when overlaying an existing paved area. Petro Matting can be installed one of two ways: the most common way is by installing a piece of matting approximately 18” wide, that has been pre-made with an adhesive backing, over each crack that is approximately ½” or greater in width.
